      Interviewee Biography: Miriam “Mim:” Shapiro was born in New York City and spent the early part of her career in Washington D.C. She married Hank Shapiro and after World War II Mim and Hank were excited to drive out to California and start their family. Mim and Hank decided to settle in Culver City, California because of the location and small town atmosphere. They have both worked tirelessly to keep Culver City a small town community in the center of a large industry city.

      Interviewee Biography: Dennis James Parrish was born on May 3, 1935 in Culver City, California. He has lived in Culver City his entire life and still owns a home in the City. Parrish is a second generation property master and has worked on more than sixty-five movies and documentaries. Parrish also worked as an art director and a set director. In addition, he produced six historical documentaries on Culver City with his daughter, Hope Parrish. The Parrish family originally came from Akron, Ohio and followed Dennis' father to Los Angeles in 1929 to work in the film industry. Parrish started working on films at the age of eighteen. He retired from the industry in 2010 after fifty-seven years. He now enjoys playing golf in Palm Desert where he currently resides with his wife of sixty years.

      Interviewee Biography: Steven Rose lives in Culver City today, and moved here in the 1940s. His family owned a local upholstery business where he worked growing up. He formerly served as the Mayor of Culver City and currently acts as the President of the Chamber of Commerce, as he has been for the past 29 years. He has a unique perspective on the local culture of Culver City with an eye on regional, national, and international politics, Steven Rose offers valuable insight into the inner workings of the City over the last several decades.

      Interviewee Biography: Robert Fredrick Delgado was born in a Culver City hospital on September 16, 1949. Both his parents are of Mexican descent and at the time his father was a local gardener and his mother a homemaker. He grew up in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles in the 1950s and 1960s and attended Venice High School, graduating in 1967. He was hired immediately by Northrop Corporation as an apprentice journeyman at the company’s Plant #1 in Hawthorne, California. He married in 1981 and the couple has two children. In 1982, Delgado and his wife purchased a home in Culver City.

      Interviewee Biography: Gene Kolinchak was born on December 21, 1938 in a small coal-mining town called Rockingham, Pennsylvania. Gene joined the Marine Corps in 1956 and served until 1962. He continued to live in California after being discharged where he met his wife, Suzanne. He began his 42-year long career in the aerospace industry for Douglas Aircraft on December 17, 1962. Gene retired from Douglas in 2004 and currently resides in Huntington Beach, CA., with his wife.

      Interviewee Biography: Mr. Wayne Ratkovich was born May 29th, 1941 - living the majority of his life under the Cold War. He was the sixth child of Serbian immigrants. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves- serving in the psychological warfare, artillery and army intelligence units. In 1967, Mr. Ratkovich married his wife JoAnn Calkins, and they would have three children. In 1977, Mr. Ratkovich formed his own company- The Ratkovich Company- purchasing the Oviatt Building in downtown Los Angeles as his first project in the urban market and historic preservation area. In 2011 he was named a life trustee of the ULI. He is also an Emeritus Trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
